SHLA's next members’ meeting will take place on 27th April 2017 at Cornerstone Barristers.
The topic – public law for social landlords – will cover the principles of lawful decision-making and the process by which judges review the lawfulness of decisions made or actions taken by a public body.
Following the recent decision of the ONS (Office of National Statistics), both housing associations and local authorities are likely to be considered public bodies whose decisions to, for example, seek possession and even serve a tenant with notice are amenable to public law challenge.
So, what does public law require of social landlords? How do social landlords ensure that they comply with their obligations under the Human Rights Act 1998 and Equality Act 2010? And how do they minimise the prospect of a successful challenge in public law? Join us on 27th April 2017 to find out. You'll receive guidance and top tips from the experts, including barristers Morayo Fagborun-Bennett of Hardwicke and Christopher Baker of Arden Chambers, and have an opportunity to share your experiences with other SHLA members. So, register now to avoid disappointment."
Cornerstone Barristers is located in 2-3 Gray's Inn Square, London WC1R 5JH and the closest Tube stations are Holborn, Chancery Lane and Farringdon.
